Description
The HGT paddle shift system represents a significant advancement in race car technology, offering numerous benefits that reduce installation time as well as enhancing both performance and driver experience. Central to its appeal is the system’s ability to deliver ultra-fast gear shifts, which are crucial in competitive racing. This paddle shift system enables seamless, instantaneous gear changes at the mere flick of a paddle which translates to reduced lap times and improved acceleration, giving drivers a critical edge on the track.
We’ve engineered this system totally in house for reliability and durability using the highest quality materials and technology to provide what we believe to be the best paddle shift system in the world. To start; we’ve used the highest grade carbon fibre available, not common low-grade compounds you see in value-priced systems, nor carbon fibre veneer over fibreglass like some in the budget range. As you compare HGT pricing vs competitors, remember the HGT system comes wired and terminated ready to install with tefzel wiring, 90-degree boots for minimum wiring fatigue and Raychem heat shrink protection. For an apples-to-apples comparison, you’d need to factor in at least two days of local professional labour or maybe more time if you intend to wire yourself. There are 9 terminated momentary switches to assign to the various ECU and race-related functions as you see fit- professional motorsport wiring, 90-degree boots and Raychem heat shrink make this an outstanding package. Two years of driver feedback from race testing has allowed us to fine-tune the magnet and spring setup to deliver the ultimate shift feel.
The curley cord is prewired with a 12-pin DTM ready to plug and play.
Our engineers designed the billet CNC valve body casing with aerodynamics in mind to provide maximum fill and exhaust flows to ensure the fastest feed and recycle times. The coils we use have been chosen specifically for their rapid charge and discharge properties to minimise response times. Our gear shift Actuator is equipped with Viton seals to help with extreme heat they are subjected to by the close position of red hot exhausts. The HGT actuator has been designed so that the cylinder fills in the absolute minimum time to provide the fastest possible shifts.
The accumulator is a billet CNC piece for the ultimate quality with a solid proper carbon fibre base for mounting in your race vehicle. The anodized accumulator mounts in the upright position to minimise the footprint in the mounting area. Its fitted with a stainless steel purging system that can be controlled via the ECU to enable water trapped in the accumulator to be purged on startup – you’ll never have to remove the accumulator to drain moisture.
The compressor and accumulator combination have been matched for the minimum weight and correct amount of air to ensure the compressor does not exceed 40% duty cycle whilst allowing 5 downshifts in a second – you’ll never run out of air. The compressor, valve body and actuator combination have been tested in 25-hour endurance races consuming over 22,000 shifts in 100°F /38°C ambient temperatures with 75% humidity, without a single issue or misshift. In summary; this kit has all the features of the Pro System except the Krontec quick connect, the DTM 22 Pin single plug, and the GrayHill rotary switches.
